🕺➡️💀 The Jesse Johnson Reversal

Seven days ago, Jesse Johnson shot 88 — a net 66, the best net round in the field, the win for his team, and the reason we declared Round 14 an 80s party in his honor. It was a beautiful story. We should have known better.

On Thursday, dressed for the decade that celebrated him, Jesse Johnson shot 111. One hundred and eleven. A 59 on the front, a 52 on the back, a net 89 off his 22. That is a 23-shot regression in one week, the golf equivalent of getting a key to the city and then driving the parade float into a lake. We throw you a party, you show up and post a buck-eleven. Incredible. Never change. Actually — please change.

🏌️ The Over/Under Is 30. Bring the 36-Pack.

The clubhouse has opened a line, and the over/under on Jesse Johnson's lost golf balls is set at a record 30. Thirty. That is not a typo, that is a projection built on a 59-52 scorecard and a swing that files flight plans. Sharps are hammering the over.

So here is the official league mandate for Round 15: Jesse arrives with the 36-pack of Kirkland Signature golf balls from Costco. Not a sleeve. Not a dozen. The full flat of thirty-six. If he clears the over/under he'll still limp home with a six-ball cushion, and the pro shop can finally stop treating him like a one-man restocking event. ⛳ One Foursome, a 36-Shot Canyon

Here is the cruelest part. Jesse's group — Jared Hoppe, David Anderson, Jim Bender, and Jesse — contained both the best AND the worst gross round of the entire night. While Jesse was carding 111, his own teammate Jim Bender quietly posted 75 — the low gross of the whole field. That's a 36-shot spread inside a single foursome. Hoppe added a 76 with a deuce on the 15th. Three-quarters of that team played genuinely excellent golf, and they still finished dead last (−2, sixth place), because 40 Net Ball only forgives you so many times before it makes you count a 9. Last week Jesse's number won the day; this week it sank three good rounds. The man is a weather system.

🏆 The Winners: Neitzke & Co. Bury the Field at −24

Ryan Neitzke, Jason Jackovich, Scott Kimman, and Jason Sourdiff ran away with it at −24, a two-shot win over Tate's crew. Neitzke led the way with a tidy 79, Kimman turned an 80 into a net 68, and Jackovich did the thing where a 96 becomes a net 71 and nobody's allowed to complain about it. Ten team points apiece, and for Neitzke it was a season-altering haul — more on that below.

🎯 Low Net, Low Gross

Low gross — Jim Bender, 75. A 40-35 card, two birdies, nine pars, zero doubles, and the misfortune of sharing a scorecard with a natural disaster.
Low net — Dave Thomes, 67. An 85 off his 18, and the best net number in the building. Thomes carried our T3 team while the rest of us (hi) contributed vibes.
Runners-up on net: Kimman 68, Phil Ferguson 69, Bender 69. Ferguson also stuffed a deuce on the 6th.

🎯 Five Deuces, Zero Aces, $3,266

The Blue nine's par 3s took a beating and gave nothing up. Tate Motschenbacher and Michael Martin both deuced the 218-yard 3rd (a par 3 only on the scorecard), Ferguson on the 6th, Justin Heitkamp on the 8th, and Hoppe on the 15th. Five twos, five balls that lipped destiny — and not one of them fell for the ace. So the pot rolls again: $3,266, sitting on every short iron like a dare. Somebody end this before it buys a boat.

🤕 The Hall of Pain

Jesse Johnson — 111. Already covered, but it belongs here too, framed and hung. The 80s party's guest of honor left with the lampshade and the highest number of the year.
David Anderson — 96 with SEVEN doubles. Seven. A man who found the exact same trouble in two different ZIP codes and shot 6 over on the back nine's math alone.
Landon Snider — 92 built on TEN bogeys. Not a single blow-up, just a slow, honest bleed. Ten bogeys is almost admirable in its consistency. Almost.
Your author — 89. A 48 front, a triple, a bag of doubles, and a team that finished T3 in spite of me. Thank you, Dave Thomes, for the net 67 that let me hold the finish for the group photo. Six points I'll be counting.

🤝 Season Team Points: Tate Holds, Neitzke Crashes the Party
