Round 2: David Anderson's 63 Buries the Field
Round 2, Thursday May 7, Dutch 27: White/Blue — par 70. Six groups, a perfect evening, and one team that decided the rest of us were optional.
๐ The Winners
๐ฅ Jared Hoppe + David Anderson + Charlie Geraets + Mark Pietig — −24
Not close. David Anderson dropped a net 63 (79 gross off 16) — low net of the night and the engine of a −24 nobody else sniffed. Charlie Geraets kept his net-scoring tear alive with a 68, Mark Pietig added a 70, and Jared Hoppe's 79 anchored the gross. Eight clear of the field. A statement.
๐ฅ Michael Martin + Joel Clough + Tate Motschenbacher + Dave Thomes — −15
Second on a tiebreaker at 125 net. Tate Motschenbacher's 70 and Michael Martin's steady 74 (eight pars, no birdies, no fireworks) did the heavy lifting. Dave Thomes keeps quietly racking up points.
๐ฅ Ben Von Bank + Scott Bender + Sam Geraets + Barney Miller — −15
Same 125 net, third on the tiebreak. Scott Bender's 73 and Sam Geraets' 70 carried it; Ben Von Bank's 99 gross is a Hall of Pain story below, but his net birdies showed up when they counted.
๐ฆ The Birdie Board
- Peter Dahl — 3 (72 gross, low round of the night)
- Dustin Moser — 3
- Justin Heitkamp — 3
- Jared Hoppe, Mark Pietig — 2
๐ฅ The Hall of Pain
Jerad Clough — 105 gross
Your humble webmaster. Three triples+, six doubles, exactly one par across eighteen holes. The 89 net is the kind of number you don't post to the group text. The website, regrettably, has no such filter.
Jason Jackovich — 98 gross, eight doubles
Eight double bogeys. Not one triple — just relentless, metronomic doubles, one after another after another. There's almost something beautiful about it. Almost.
๐ The Grinder Award
Michael Martin. 81 gross, net 74, eight pars and zero birdies on a second-place team. No highlights, no lowlights — just a man parring his way to points while everyone else rode the rollercoaster. The 7 handicap earned every dot.
๐ค Heads Up
Round 3 is Thursday May 14 — Dutch Blue/Red. Team Points through two rounds:
- Charlie Geraets — 18
- Dave Thomes — 18
- Mark Pietig / Sam Geraets / Tate Motschenbacher — 14
Charlie Geraets, carrying an 18, is tied atop the league on net scoring. Let that marinate. Two down, eighteen to go.
